Q. 1 STAGES

Initially I wasn't overly concerned. I assumed it would be contained and didn't pose an immediate threat. But once I could see what was happening in Italy it became much more worrying. I started paying more attention to the news. I became aware of acquaintances in other countries that contracted the virus and the description of their symptoms was frightening. I have tried my best to remain engaged with the news and not become desensitised.

Q. 2 EVERYDAY ROUTINE

I have tried to keep myself occupied with job hunting and other projects but have found myself losing track of time. I try to break up the day by bringing the dogs out for a walk.

Q. 3 GROUPS

Despite being told to cocoon I've seen more elderly out walking. I'm also getting a lot of anecdotal evidence of older people feeling an increasing sense of isolation. Families who have lost people during this crisis are also facing difficulty in mourning the deceased. We can't come together for funerals.

Q. 4 WAYS WE TALK

Communication has become much more distant. I'm seeing fewer people stopping to talk while out walking. There is a bigger use of virtual communication. More reliance on Zoom and other similar platforms for gatherings.

Q. 5 COMMUNITY RESPONSE

I contributed to a fundraiser called Feed The Heroes which was about delivering meals to hospital workers.

Q. 6 THOUGHTS AND PREOCCUPATIONS

I find myself worrying about the aftermath. What will the death toll be? What state will the economy be in? Will it be possible to get a job?

Q. 7 SIMILARITY TO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

No Response.

Q. 8 CHALLENGES AND COPING

No Response.

Q. 9 THE FUTURE

I hope that this will encourage us to slow down and be more considerate of what others are going through.

Q. 11 IN A NUTSHELL

This experience has knocked me back a bit. Beforehand I was very optimistic about the future. Now I find myself worrying about what will be left when this is over.
