Q. 1 STAGES
No Response. -
Q. 2 EVERYDAY ROUTINE
Reserved reaction, waited for facts. Anxious but small children to care for and keep stress free. -
Q. 3 GROUPS
Frontline emergency services worker x 2 in family. Job description hasn't changed but days are longer and more unpredictable. Throw in part time teacher for primary school aged children!! My eldest child celebrated his birthday 2 weeks ago, vivid style, thank god for social media and the postal system. -
Q. 4 WAYS WE TALK
Teenagers and young adults are finding social distancing a challenge, noticeable in my line of work. Older generation (70+) are silently struggling, they understand why but it remains difficult for them.
-
Q. 5 COMMUNITY RESPONSE
Zoom, video calling, more 'snail mail', lots of phone calls but still miss hugging my loved ones. -
Q. 6 THOUGHTS AND PREOCCUPATIONS
Lots of lovely initiatives, shopping for the elderly, Gardaí carrying out tasks above and beyond. Medical staff returning to and continuing to work, initiatives to feed frontline workers and help with childcare etc. -
Q. 7 SIMILARITY TO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Health, anxiety and the longevity of the situation. -
Q. 8 CHALLENGES AND COPING
No Response.
-
Q. 9 THE FUTURE
It has made us realise how fragile life is and how things can change so suddenly. It will make us stronger and not take for granted the power of physical contact with our chosen few. Going forward I hope, and like to think that we will slow down and appreciate the simple pleasures in life. -
Q. 10 IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE THAT SPRINGS TO MIND?
No Response.
-
Q. 11 IN A NUTSHELL
Slow down, realise that life is not a race and enjoy every second of it. Look after each other and be more understanding and think of others always. - age
