Q. 1 STAGES

I feel it’s a time when everyone is confused and decisions are being made, in a rash manner, at times, i.e. giving 100% to everyone for practicals and oral exams in the leaving cert is madness!!

Q. 2 EVERYDAY ROUTINE

Queuing for shops feels weird. Oddly feel exposed too I don’t like it. I haven’t encountered a Garda checkpoint yet but I’m wary driving in case I’ve gone outside the 2km restriction.

Q. 3 GROUPS

I see lots of children out in my locale acting like it’s a normal holiday off work. I found some people get offended if you remind them of social distancing. I’ve been told by one person that it’s ok they don’t have anything but how do they know???

Q. 4 WAYS WE TALK

One guy I know does jazz hands as a joke to say hello.

Q. 5 COMMUNITY RESPONSE

People not moving out of the way or two people walking together at opposite sides of a path and you have to walk between them when they could have walked behind each other. They are supposed to be from the same household if they are out walking together so they don’t need the social distancing. I personally witnessed this. I heard of people verbally abusing children for being out and I was shouted at by two walkers over having my dogs off their leads, presumably they think animals can infect them.
Additionally, everyone seems to be doing home improvements!!!

Q. 6 THOUGHTS AND PREOCCUPATIONS

How some people are incredibly rude, selfish and ignorant. On the other hand there’s many who are kind and selfless and willing to help others in whatever way they can.

Q. 7 SIMILARITY TO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

No Response.

Q. 8 CHALLENGES AND COPING

No Response.

Q. 9 THE FUTURE

The environment has improved. Other than that I’m not sure.

Q. 10 IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE THAT SPRINGS TO MIND?

No Response.

Q. 11 IN A NUTSHELL

I guess it gives everyone an idea of what it’s like to be poor. It’s an odd thought I know but right now, no one can go anywhere, no holidays, no restaurants, no cinema, no nothing and there’s huge awareness about how this new lifestyle is affecting mental health. It just dawned on me one day that this must be what it’s like to be poor. All holidays, trips, restaurants and cinemas etc. are inaccessible to you.
