GENERAL PHYSICAL LOCATION RIGHT NOW

I live on the outskirts of the city, near Douglas so we have water nearby within the 2 km radius within which we are allowed to walk, and we have a town centre of Douglas which is desolate now with all the shops shut down on top of the damaged shopping centre which is still being repaired after last year’s fire.

Q. 1 STAGES

First it seemed like SARs or something like Ebola that remains a story on the news but all of a sudden it was here and then the realisation that this is a threat on your doorstep really hit home. The impact was apparent through so many different sources- the news of course, then the daily reports from government, then stories from across Europe where it had already hit and like a tsunami realising it is coming our way and then likelihood that steps for shutdown that were happening in Italy for example were our likely future.

Q. 2 EVERYDAY ROUTINE

Daily routine began with the first week or so of having a stiff drink at the end of the day to help with listening to the news, and worrying about family members across Ireland, then after 2-3 weeks beginning to settle and realise life can still be OK: our daughter moved back home out of Dublin, our son became jobless and moved home also and we began to construct routines such as doing exercise in the morning before work within the house with my daughter-both of us working from home online . Our neighbour died 2 days ago suddenly -not covid related but having been diagnosed with cancer 6 weeks ago out of the blue- the funeral took place in our estate today; the hearse moved slowly through the roads with the neighbours all out to pay respects from a distance- the most poignant, sad funeral.
