"They used change the pictures in the Lido every Monday, Wednesday and Friday; were different pictures there. And I often went to the Lido, people like Flash Gordon and Ming. Flash Gordon had a little, had a little spaceship and he used to go all over the place right. I remember being in the Lido for a play, well a comedy show, with Tony Hegarty. And there were other fellows on the stage in the Lido. But I did, I went to the Lido maybe once or twice a week and eh sometimes what they used do, what they used do, I suppose once or twice I did it myself now, some people would pay to go in and then they’d open the door. You know it was panic bars on the door, so kind of gingerly open the door, open a small bit and they’d be loads of crowd come in from the outside, they wouldn’t have paid at all. So we used to get one fella to go in and pay, and maybe four or five of us would get in without paying then because you could open the door. [laughs] And eh the following up ones were great, I remember pictures there now like; the beast with the five fingers, Peter Law and the hand going round all night; we didn’t know where the rest of the body was, ‘twould strangle people and everything. And they used say about the Lido you could go in a cripple and you’d come out walking [laughs] with fleas. And you’d never, you’d never have to ask where the toilets where, you could smell ‘em. [laughs] And timber seats, you said; there was no cushions, most of the people in there weren’t sitting on seats, they were all around the place. The Lido, ah yeah, funny places, that’s what we did."
