Vaccines: History and Testimony

This section is under construction

In this section, we will present material and testimony relating to the 'giving and getting' of vaccination in twentieth century Ireland.

The page Getting the Vaccine includes oral testimony on getting vaccinated in 1940s and 1950s Cork, including a description of being on the receiving end of 'the branding iron'.

The page The development of vaccination in Ireland gives a very short introduction to the topic: this resource will be developed as the project progresses.

We will be adding a range of resources related to development of vaccination initiatives in twentieth-century Ireland, and how vaccines work. We will also discuss issues relating to power and ethics in vaccination research and public health.
